History of Triumph
Triumph Services, Inc., a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization, was founded on August 1, 2007. Triumph offers an alternative form of support to individuals with developmental disabilities, provided in a community-based and non-restrictive manner. Triumph supports individuals to grow in independence, to assume greater personal responsibility, and to increase community involvement.
When Triumph began in August 2007, there were sixteen individuals who were identified as needing the immediate services of life coaching, supported employment, and social activity coordination. Immediately, it was evident that Triumph serves a group of individuals who have been historically underserved.
Currently Triumph is supporting approximately 60 in their efforts to live independently. More than half of these individuals have family living outside of Alabama. These adults are achieving independence in Alabama while their families reside in Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, Maine, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Texas, Tennessee, and even Taiwan!
Approximately 61% of the individuals receiving services have a diagnosis of either Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome. With the number of individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum disorders growing at an epidemic rate (1 in 150 births), the services Triumph provides are crucial as these children grow into adults. Triumph works closely with other organizations such as the Autism Asperger’s Consulting Group, The Autism Society of Alabama, UCP of Greater Birmingham, The Arc, and Glenwood, Inc., to ensure that the services we provide are addressing the most important areas of need for individuals on the Autism Spectrum.
